NFC Academy Conference, Abu Dhabi 2010 –
final report of 2nd dedicated Middle East event

Government support in fostering the technology revolution is likely to be a key success factor in the development of the global market for wireless and near field communications. This was strongly evidenced in the discussions held during the two-day conference that consolidated the success of NFC Academy’s initiative in the Middle East. Suvi Lindén, the Finnish Minister of Communications, actively participated in both days and opened the key government-oriented conference session, ‘Contactless technologies for citizen-centric services’. Minister Lindén, who is actively involved as an advocate in promoting the development of mobile and wireless technologies, addressed the international audience highlighting NFC as one of the key contributors to social development and for creating new business growth and competitiveness. She also reiterated to the NFC Academy community, the importance of legislation and its role in the continued adoption of wireless technology in many sectors.

Inaugural NFC Academy Meeting 2010
advances vision in Istanbul

Members of the NFC Academy Advisory Board convened with end-users and pioneering adopters of the technology, including representative from the banking, telecoms, transport and postal sectors, to explore the tangible potential of near field communications and take it up a level for the broader community of experts and end-users of advanced security and wireless technologies and methodologies. The meeting drew on the expertise and innovative visions of Chua Thian Yee, CEO of Cassis International, Sertaç Özinal, CEO of BKM Interbank Card Center of Turkey, Michael Hegenbarth, Senior Director Standardization and Consulting, Bundesdruckerei, Pelin Kabalak, Executive VP, BKM Interbank, Mehmet Selçuk Ergin, CEO of Chromesoft, Nuri Temur, Advisory to Prime Minister, Turkish Government, Richard Wishart, Managing Director, Delivery Management, Fausto Bolognini, CEO, Quercia Software, Ali Salci, P&S Management Finance Division Head, Turkcell, Feza Tarhan, Business Development Director and BKM Ilker Mat, Senior Manager, Value Partners - all of whom fully support the NFC Academy’s drive to bring the technology to life beyond the pilot stage. The intention is to develop and showcase a series of all new NFC Academy Demos to go live at NFC Academy events during 2010.

Finnish Minister of Communications to speak at
NFC Academy Conference, Abu Dhabi 2010

Near field communications taken to new levels
at NFC Academy Conference & Exhibition

Early adopters and CEOs of the most NFC savvy companies worldwide, gathered in Milan from November 3 – 5 at the NFC Academy Conference & Exhibition to facilitate new discussion and progress in the sphere of near field communications. Over all three days, 40 speakers at the NFC Academy Conference addressed key issues and applications of the technology surrounding ID documents, access control, smart ticketing and payment systems. Mobile content and commerce, anti-counterfeiting and social networking were other areas which prompted lively discussion and debate from both the NFC Academy Advisory board and all participants at the event, which included pioneers of projects taking off in Europe, Asia Pacific, America, the Middle East and Africa.

NFC Academy Conference separates
hype from reality at Paris event

Passionate debate and strong opinions from both advocates and challengers of near field communications, set the tone of another successful NFC Academy Conference, which met for the second time this year in Paris on May 29 and focused on the world of transportation. The Paris event had a strong emphasis on mobile ticketing, fare collection as well as next generation technologies and standards in NFC. An excellent audience mix of end users and exponents of NFC, shared experiences from NFC pilots in mobile ticketing and intelligent transport systems, in order to separate the hype from reality and stimulate debate on key issues and opportunities for NFC in transport, mobile commerce, security and identification.

Wise Media unveils the names of the NFC Academy
Advisory Board members for 2009

On the occasion of the inaugural NFC Academy Conference held in Abu Dhabi, Wise Media announced today the formation of the NFC Academy Advisory Board for 2009. The names of the NFC Advisory Board members were unveiled at the presence of H. E. Darwish Al Zaraouni, Director General, Emirates Identity Authority, during an official ceremony at the 2009 Citizen ID Forum, the global summit held under the patronage of H. H. Lieut.
